Feelings feeling feelings...

So...me and my love have been kind of stuck in a 'best friends' situation for a few months now. Every now and then I see a little evidence that his feelings for me are changing. He seems to be getting more jealous towards other men in my life and when he even thinks that I might suggest that I don't feel like hanging out when he wants to, he goes all frustrated and angry. Sometimes it is cute and amusing, sometimes it is just annoying...because he could so easily change the situation by asking me to be his girlfriend again!

In the meantime, my feelings are changing too. Two weeks ago I went to the movies with a friend, and afterwards, for the first time in months I felt like: okay, life is good this way too. That feeling started coming up more since then. And it scared me a bit the first few times. Like when I was giving up on the desperation, I was giving up on the desire. But I guess letting go of the desperation is a good thing really.

The last few days I have let go of the clinginess more and more and since then things have been....a bit rough between us. He hardly spoke to me for two days, today he insulted me by accident, apologized 100 times (which he never used to do by the way) texted me lots of kisses, got frustrated again when I didn't feel like skyping....

So...when I am feeling less desperate, he becomes more distant....am I going forward, or backward? Any suggestions on how to visualize this into calmer waters?

Re: Feelings feeling feelings...

I don't think he becomes distant, he is just not getting what he wants (YOU!) and gets frustrated. Look at him like a little child who doesn't get his sweets. What would the child do? Be patient untill he gets the sweets or get mad/emotional and keep begging for it? ;)

Just know that YOU have the power, YOU are in control. It's an amazing step that you let go of the clinginess. Keep focussing on the end situation. What do you want the relationship to be like? how do you want him to act? What do you want to hear him say?
