I guess I am struggling with this because for me, letting someone else do all of the initiating to me feels like a game and that is not what I want happening here. Our conversations have been flowing from one day to the next, just continuing from where we left off, but on Monday and Tuesday he initiated conversation when we had said goodnight the night before. Yesterday there was no contact because neither of us texted. I just feel a little flustered because I feel like there are rules that need to be followed for this to be successful 

When my guy and me first met each other 6 years ago and were getting to know each other, we both initiated conversation and both made plans. It was all equal. We both put in equal amount of energy and we ended up dating for 5 years.
